Privacy Policy

Summary

Optmum is an image optimizer for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It runs entirely on your device. Your images, conversion settings, and file metadata never leave your Mac, iPad, or iPhone. Nothing is uploaded to a server, no analytics is collected on your files, and no account is required to use the app.

What Optmum does not do

  • Upload your images, screenshots, or any file content to a server.
  • Track your usage with third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
  • Require an account, profile, or sign-in to convert images.
  • Share your data with anyone — including us.

Photos & Files access

On iPhone and iPad, Optmum requests permission to read from your Photos library or Files when you import an image, and to write back when you save. These reads and writes happen locally on your device. The system may show standard Apple permission prompts; you can change Optmum's access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.

Image metadata

Photos contain embedded metadata (EXIF: camera, location, timestamps). Optmum can preserve, strip, or selectively keep this metadata when you export — the choice is yours and is made entirely on your device. Optmum never reads this metadata back to a server.

Purchases & subscriptions

Subscriptions, lifetime purchases, free trials, and Universal Purchase entitlements are handled by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment information, your name, or your email address from Apple. We only receive anonymized App Store sales reports that tell us how many copies were purchased — not who purchased them.

Crash reports

If you opt in to share diagnostics with developers in iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, Apple may forward anonymized crash reports to us. These reports contain no image content, no personal data, and no file paths from your device — only stack traces and device model. You can disable this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Children's privacy

Optmum is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Optmum handles data, we'll update this page and bump the date at the top. Material changes will also be called out in release notes.
